Even though
I been a vegetarian for over 10 years, I can not support peta
(people for the ethical treatment of animals) Here is why:
PETA
Parody Put to Sleep Animal-rights organization PETA (People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is declaring victory after
a federal judge in Virginia ordered a Maryland man to turn over
the domain name PETA.org to the organization. It wasn't a simple
case of cybersquatting, where someone registers a domain name
and tries to sell it to an organization or business that would
want it, but rather a case of a parody that PETA didn't think
was funny. The owner of the domain used the site for a fictitious
organization called People for Eating Tasty Animals. But PETA
(the animal protectors, not eaters) said the parody was frustrating
people who were looking for information on protecting furry
creatures. In addition to forking over the domain, the owner
of PETA.org was ordered not to use "confusingly similar" domain
names[06/22/00] -source
